Spring Garden 2011

Half of the garden is planted in red potatoes and the other half is yellow and zucchini squash.

The potatoes should be ready for harvesting when Rebecca and Mary arrive from Utah.

The squash fruit is beginning to form.  I am hoping that these plants do not get the same fungus I had last fall.  I did not use a fungicide but I am hoping the freeze and planting in a different quadrant will solve the problem.

Costco Tomatoes 2

My Costco tomatoes are producing like crazy.

Bunny Door

Arriving home today I spotted at least six baby squirrels frockling in the yard.  Now some might think they are cute (which they are) but Sarah refers to them as rats with fluffy tails.  I loved this wreath until I realized it looks like those pesky squirrels.

Wishbone Flower

The Wishbone flower is really Torenia fournieri, and it loves hot humid weather which is perfect for Houston.  Our Timberline neighbor Mrs. Pease, first introduced me to this plant.  I would spend hours visiting with her as she taught me about plants, and the art of flower arranging.  One summer Mrs. Pease, knowing my desire to have flowers of my own helped me establish a flower bed covered in Wishbone and Pink Pokadots.

New Reading

I recently purchased three new cookbooks for my summer cooking.  I am looking forward to the challenge. 

Duct Tape Tree Update

This is the "duct tape" pecan tree that I photographed last year, and even though Texas is experiencing a severe drought, the tree lives on.
