Helmut and Jonah recently completed the MS150. This is a 150 mile bike ride from Houston to Austin. Debbie has decided to join in the fun next year. I love the new look!

Sarah Celebration 2011
Today is Sarah's 40th birthday, and it reminds me that we always go back to our roots. She is a farm girl at heart!
I miss being the center of her universe but it is only right that she is now the center of her childrens universe. She is a wonderful mother, wife, sister, and daughter. I love you Sarah.
No matter where life takes you, you will always be a Texas woman! I'll always cherish the time we spent together on the farm. I love you.

Volkswagon
Carl has recently purchased a VW Sportswagon. I had some reservations about this car because of my history, you see my mother traded in our Cadillac DeVille for a Volkswagon Beetle. She had a history of wanting small. One time she traded in our Ford Station Wagon for a American Motors Metropolitan. If you don't have any recollection of this model it was essentially a two seater and she insisted on picking up every child she could to attend church. Her response for our complaining was "we should be preparing for space travel".
It's a diesel but remarkably comfortable. We are keeping our suburban and truck for hauling.

Roses
Our roses are blooming in Lampasas with absolutely no help.

New Location
The dead mesquite tree is going to be taken down on Tuesday which necessitated moving the bird feeders. Carl relocated the hummingbird nectar closer to the porch.
This is the view from the living room as I waited for the hummingbirds.
Finally, the birds arrived and if you look closely you can see the tiny black-chinned hummingbird.

Circle of Life
The mesquite tree by my garage has leafed out in a beautiful chartreuse color.
The mesquite tree outside our back door has died. No leaves, no life, only the bird feeders hanging from a very sad skeleton. We will have to find someone to take it down.

Banderole
This was the Young Women's program in 1950-60's. My flower of choice was the daffodil because my sister Rebecca had also chosen it.
I completed the program and I have the certificate to prove it.

Costco Tomatoes
The three pak of Costco tomato plants are producing.
These pots are sitting poolside.
I am just waiting for the Miracle Whip and tomato sandwiches.

Camp Read-A-Lot
Camp Read-A-Lot is my reading incentive for the second semester. The gifts include whistles, compasses, rubber snakes, flashlights, glow stick bracelets, sticky lizards, and the ever popular rubber ducks.
The district media center printed the booklet along with the poster for me.
